On September 25, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., the Cuba Center and Gorgas House Museum will host a closing reception for the exhibit, “Clara Maass: She Gave Her Life”. Admission is free and Cuban treats will be provided.

During the reception, Dr. Erik Peterson (Department of History, The University of Alabama) will give a brief presentation on the transition from humoral theory to germ theory and the Yellow Fever Commission’s work in Cuba, providing historical and scientific context for Clara Maass’s role in the experiments.

Event Location

The event is at the Gorgas House Museum, located at 810 Capstone Drive, Tuscaloosa, AL 35487, just off the Quadrangle of The University of Alabama campus (one block west of the Amelia Gayle Gorgas Library, at the corner of McCorvey and Capstone Drives).

Parking

Guests who RSVP will be given a code to the Student Center Parking Deck for free parking. Those who need handicap accessible parking can email gorgashouse@ua.edu for assistance.
